History of Lakewood Longhorns
Named “California’s Sports Town” in 2004 for its dedication & commitment to youth sports by Sports Illustrated (SI) Lakewood California is home to Lakewood Pacific Junior Football & Cheer (LPJF), a non-profit organization providing a safe & fun sports environment since 1973.
Over the years, LPJF has grown and earned a reputation for having an excellent competitive spirit and producing quality athletes in both football and cheer. Our teams have come home with many division trophies & championship titles over the last 40+ years.
This year we will have young athletes participating in our football & cheer programs ranging in age from 5 to 14 years of age. Families are attracted to our youth sports program for numerous reasons. LPJF places great emphasis on our members exhibiting the finest examples of “CITIZENSHIP, FRIENDSHIP, LEADERSHIP and SPORTSMANSHIP”. We aim to teach the fundamentals of football & cheerleading while concentrating on discipline and scholastic achievement. We also focus on teaching our young athletes the importance of being a TEAM PLAYER and strive to develop each participant’s potential in a organized, educational, supervised, safe, fun and caring environment. By doing this, the children of our league are given the opportunity to learn how they can become the best individual they can be and give back to their community for generations to come.

Our Vision is to be a recognized leader and program of choice in the southern California youth sports community, distinguishing ourselves by offering a family oriented, safe, fun, competitive and disciplined sports environment built on a high standard of excellence, on and off the field.
Our Mission is simple and straight forward, “Achieve Excellence” by putting our members first, servicing them to the best of our abilities, providing value and building a program that develops young athletes for the next level not only in athletics but also in academics.

At LPJF we pride ourselves in promoting the sport of cheer as athletic, disciplined and competitive activity. We emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, dedication, perseverance, and commitment. Every cheerleader who participates in our program is required to make a full commitment to their teams. Participating in our program not only prepares our youth for a future at the high school level athletically and academically.
